Tuesday, March 1, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601
ACC pastors are invited to gather with all of ACC’s congregational pastors for conversation and learning around the resolutions coming for discernment at the MC USA Delegate Assembly in May 2022. The focus of the morning is to engage with one another, to strengthen conference connections, and to inform and empower pastors to equip congregational delegates attending the May delegate session. A virtual option will be available for those at a distance.
The morning will feature a circle process to hear responses from every congregational context on how the proposed resolutions (particularly the resolution to retire the Membership Guidelines and the Resolution for Repentance and Transformation) may impact ACC congregations. Our hope is that this time of listening and sharing would help build connections and inform decisions to be made in May.
The morning will also involve a times of worship and silent listening to the Spirit and include some information about the proposed resolutions and the May process. Upcoming MC USA webinars will be primary source of information on the upcoming delegate session (found at the MC USA special delegate session webpage).
All congregational pastors of ACC congregations are invited to attend. During the morning process, we will invite one response on behalf of each congregation to the following questions:
How does your congregation regard the MC USA Membership Guidelines and what effect will retiring the Membership Guidelines have in your congregation?
What is your congregation’s response to LGBTQ+ persons? What congregational discernment have you engaged in regarding LGBTQ+ membership, marriage, and/or ministry?
Pastors are invited to consider these questions ahead of time. To ensure that we hear equally from each congregation, pastors will given a 3×5 note card and asked to write and read their responses on the morning of March 1.
Registration is requested by February 23
