Conference Delegates

The delegate body is the main governing body of Atlantic Coast Conference. Annual delegate sessions are an opportunity for delegates to learn about conference, participate in its direction, and to hold it accountable. Special delegate sessions may also be called to provide counsel or take action on a particular resolution.

The Assembly delegate sessions focus on the business of conference life and give delegates a greater familiarity with ACC congregations and our conference community. Delegate sessions usually include learning and listening experiences, along with voting on conference business as needed. Delegates are expected to speak for their congregation to the Delegate Council and interpret conference work and program back to their congregations.

Official delegates are those who 1) hold ACC credentials with active assignments, 2) serve on ACC standing committees, or 3) are selected by ACC member congregations (2 for the first 100 members + 1 for each additional 100 or fraction thereof).

Congregations are responsible for nominating and sending delegates to delegate sessions. It is recommended that delegates serve a term over several years to increase their familiarity with the conference.
